Dear IASAS Activities Directors,
Happy Monday and special thanks to Tracy and Brian for hosting amazing events last weekend for our students! This email serves as the first formal communication for the 2026 IASAS Dance, Drama & Tech Cultural Convention, and will be used to introduce the ISB team leaders (see below), to establish email channels and protocols for each specific area going forward, and to connect you with the event hotel where rooms for the event have been blocked. Please share pertinent content with your dance, drama and tech coaches as needed.

COMMUNICATION
In general, please have your coaches err on the side of 'too much' information by copying all AD's on any emails between schools, even if the message seems trivial, or specific to your area only. Then remind them to use these same guidelines when reaching out to job-alike coaches/coordinators at the other five schools. For instance, the tech coaches will need to be in direct communication about lighting and set pieces but IASAS requires these to go through each AD. My take away from past models is that we would create email groups by area, again including the AD's from each school. Make sense?
WEBSITE
Our website is currently under construction, but once up and running it will serve as the internal 'go to' place for AD's, coaches, and in some instances maybe even students, to find all current IASAS Dance, Drama & Tech CC 2026 information. Again our promise to you is that all notices, deadlines, or tasks will first be emailed (through me or with me copied) with a link and reminder that following each successive communication, all information will be updated and available on the website for future reference.
COLLABORATION & CONTENT
Please let me know immediately if your school is planning to bring a combined dance and drama performance* to this year's convention and if any work selected includes areas required for review** according to the IASAS Handbook on Cultural Conventions, which states, "Material to be shared at IASAS Cultural Conventions shall be selected to ensure that all content and language is appropriate for an international, intergenerational, and culturally diverse audience."
*Dance 16.2.K. & Drama17.2.K. Each IASAS school agrees to inform the host school of its requests regarding its plan to bring
a combined performance to Cultural Convention by the first week of September. The host school will then assess the feasibility
of the requests brought forth based on its own constraints.
**Cultural Convention 15.1.D. "Advisors/Directors are expected to use good judgment in selecting performance pieces and ensure that content and language is appropriate for an international, intergenerational, and culturally diverse audience. Special attention should be given to areas involving brutality, nudity, blasphemy, racism, and particularly provocative material (this list is illustrative and not exhaustive). In such cases, advisors/directors must inform the Convention Director if such content is to be included and seek advice about what is considered acceptable in that particular cultural context."
Questions or concerns? Please reach out.
